Bridge Mate allows you to play bridge by yourself, or against 3 other people.
BridgeMate plays, and keeps the score for Contract, Rubber, or Duplicate Bridge.
Connect Bridge Mate with up to 3 other BridgeMate units to play bridge against human players, and have the other Bridge Mates take the place of missing players.
Bridge Mate has six different bidding conventions.
The available bidding conventions are: Short Club Opener, Preemptive 3 Level Opener, Take Out Doubles, No Trump as weak as signal bid, Stayman 2 Club Convention, and Blackwood Slam Convention.
The Bridge Mate has a large screen, and large characters for easy viewing.
Bridgemate has adjustable contrast which allows for viewing in different lighting conditions.
Bridge Mate has different screen selections allows all the cards to be viewed simultaneously.
BridgeMate has a choice of random shuffle (which simulates a normal deck of cards being shuffled), or manually choose the cards you would like dealt.
The Bridgemate computer can suggest hints if you like, and has a take back function if you want to try rebidding a hand, or replaying different cards.

The following is a list of the buttons found on the Bridge Mate that will give a better understanding of how it operates.

POWER SWITCH - Pull down, and release to turn the unit on/off
Pull down, and hold for 3 seconds while the unit is on to enter convention set mode. Current play will be ignored, and new cards will be dealt.
Pull down, and hold for 8 seconds to enter memory reset mode to start all over from the beginning with no score in memory.

SCORE - Press button to change the score between:
Above: The accumulated bonus score points
Below: The accumulated contract score points
Total: The total accumulated above, and below score
G. below: current games below score points

CONTRAST - press to adjust the screen contrast

SET - Press button once during card deal to enter set convention mode.
Press button again during set convention mode to enter manual set of cards mode.
Under multiplayer mode, press button to identify master unit.

SOUND - Press button to turn on/off sound effects

AUTO - Press button to have the computer make a contract bid, or play a card for you.

BACK / FWD - At your turn to bid, or play a card, press Back to take back a step.
Under history review mode, press Forward to scroll records forward, and Backward to scroll records backward.
If View button has been pressed by accident, press back once to exit the view hands mode without revealing the cards.

VIEW - Press button to view cards in all hands. Cards in all hands will be flashing to await your confirmation to proceed. Press Enter button to confirm, or press Back to cancel.

HISTORY - Press button once to view the contract bid history.
Press button a second time to view the card play history.
Press button a third time to exit history review mode.

DOUBLE - Press button to move the cursor up to highlight a different selection.
Under contract bid mode, press button to make a "Double", or "Re-Double" a bid.
Under convention selection mode, press button to toggle select/unselect of a bidding convention.

SUIT/NT - Press button to move the cursor left to highlight a different selection.
Under contract bid mode, press button to change the bid suit.

ENTER - Press button to confirm a selection, and/or exit an operation mode.

PASS - Press button to move the cursor down to highlight a different selection.
Under contract bid mode, press button to make a "Pass" bid.
Under convention selection mode, press button to toggle select/unselect a bidding convention.

BID NO - Press button to move the cursor right to highlight a different selection.
Under contract bid mode, press button to increase the bid number.
